Candy Party – Making the decorations…

Candy decorations were harder to find than I thought they would be so I decided to make them.

(For Pictures and more details about the actual party see my post Kindergarten Graduation Candy Party.)

Pinterest is loaded with Candy Party Ideas!  So with the little time that I had and limited funds, this is what I came up with…

What can I do with mod podge, foam disks (dollar store), curling ribbon (dollar store), wooden skewers (dollar store) and these napkins from Hobby Lobby?

Supplies 🙂

All covered…

This:

Pretty lollipops

and these...

Wrapped Candy 🙂

Tissue Paper Pom Poms

Tissue Paper Pom Pom’s

Here is a nice tutorial from Martha Stewart on making tissue paper pom poms.   (FYI: Quite Time Consuming! Especially, making the little ones!)

Candy Buffet Backdrop

I made that using Poster Board, Rainbow Crepe Paper & Tissue Paper.

Here it is all set up…

And I made a Wreath for the Door

Party Wreath using Curling Ribbon

Wreath supplies: From the Dollar Store, Foam Wreath & Curling Ribbon.

I saw an idea for hanging a frame outside for photo’s.  So I went to the thrift store and bought a grotesque picture for $4 and spray painted the frame white.   I had a basket of silly props for the kids to use while posing for pictures.

My son being silly for the camera 😉

All decorated…(well, almost)

Almost ready

I wrapped Beach Balls with Table Covering to look like giant wrapped candy. (All from Dollar Store)

With colored plastic plates, I made these to hang all around the fence in the backyard.

My plan was to have many more outdoor decorations but up until that morning the weather forecast was threatening rain so I didn’t want to invest in buying and making a bunch of balloon decorations that I wouldn’t be able to use.  I was trying to figure out how I would host this party all indoors if it actually did rain.  Fortunately, no rain just a very hot day.  The outside still looked good but I would have liked to of seen more candy-like decorations 🙂

To make handling the food plates easier, I attached the wrapped plastic ware by punching a hole in the plastic plate & tying the ribbon.

It was so nice to see everything all come together on the day of the party.  My only regret is I did not take enough pictures.  I should have delegated that job to someone else. Live & Learn.

That’s it for now, on to my next party project 🙂
